SD-WAN
WHAT IS DRIVING THE TAKE UP OF SD-WAN?
In a nutshell – cost and flexibility. SD-WAN is replacing high cost fixed circuits by enabling the migration of business networks to low cost Internet access.
SD-WAN technology maintains quality of service by routing private WAN traffic around Internet bottlenecks and failures, and by intelligently assigning available bandwidth based on application or use.
SD-WAN combines several technologies to create fully fledged managed private networks over the Internet, with the ability to dynamically share network bandwidth across connection points.

The New WAN
• The SD-WAN Edge is a physical or virtual network device that is placed at a branch office, data center, or cloud platform
• The SD-WAN Orchestrator is used to define policies for application flows.
• The SD-WAN Controller distributes policies to SD-WAN Edge devices which process application flow traffic based on the availability and performance of available routes to the destination
